At the 2017 Ohio October 3, 2017 KFPS FHANA keuring, Isobel not only received her first premium ster, but also was the Mare Champion, as well as the Day Champion over more than 50 horses.
Because we are downsizing and ending our Friesian breeding program, this mare is being offered for sale. An incredible performance mare, Isobel is the most talented driving Friesian in the country. Originally bought to be a broodmare, she spent her first years here in training and competing, but now she is fulfilling that duty. Currently in foal for an April birth, Isobel will have her second Hessel foal, and can best be described as an outstanding performance  broodmare. Isobel had sensational 2015, 2017, & 2018 show years, excelling in every driving discipline: CDEs, CTs, pleasure driving shows, breed shows, and keurings. With trainer and whip, Suzy Stafford, in the box the pair was nearly unbeatable in even their inaugural events.

Isobel and her 2019 Hessel filly, Jewelee

Isobel  thrived while in training with gold medalist carriage driver, Suzy Stafford, during 2015. In retrospect my goal of a ster keuring title did not raise the bar high enough for her potential, because she earned a driving sport predicate title (only the 3rd Friesian outside of the Netherlands to do so) and had the highest driving IBOP score in North America of the 2015 FHANA keuring circuit. Her phenomenal performance ability is problematic, because she should be a performance horse, not a broodmare;-) But my oh my, her babies will be awesome.

Here are highlights of her phenominal 2015 performance record:
  • 78.8% FEI advanced driven dressage test score at Elk Creek CDE
  • undefeated in 7 carriage pleasure driving classes at the IFSHA Region 1 Championship
  • 2015 USEF HOTY Region 1 Friesian Driving Champion
  • awarded FHANA Driving Predicate Sport title Sept 2, 2015
  • earned the highest 2015 FHANA keuring driving IBOP score
  • 2015 Dream Gait Friesian Driving IBOP Cup winner
  • became "Ster" at the 2015 FHANA Coatesville, PA Keuring

The day she arrived at DCTF

Wanting to diversify our breeding program, for
the past 2 years I have been watching for a very well bred, full-papered, stam 50 Friesian filly. I found Isobel through Facebook and she arrived here November 14, 2012 from Kasteel Friesians in Colorado Springs, CO. She is registered with both FHANA [the Friesian Horse Association of North America] and the Dutch FPS [Friesch Paarden-Stamboek (Friesian studbook)], which is the world-wide authority on the Friesian horse and recognized as the European Mother Studbook of the Friesian Horse.
Isobel, born in 2010 and sired by Sipke 450, was a 2nd Premie Champion Filly as a weanling (missed 1st premie by 1 point!)  and has a fabulously bred momma, Ypkje D, a 1st Premie Ster and Preferent Mare (+6), out of the Dam of the Approved Stallion, Thomas 327, and sired by the  Preferent Stallion, Feitse 293, Stam 50, full papers, Ster double Pref (+8) Crown Jewel (Dam of Thomas 327), Model Pref, Model, Model Pref (Dam of Fokke 219), Model Pref, Model Pref (Dam of Rinze 254), Model Pref (GrandDam of Rouke 155)
Isobel has settled in nicely, and she and Lillee, our 2011 Sape filly, have become best friends, and I am now taking her through my natural horsemanship training program and very pleased with her progress. After a month of settling in she is learning to cross tie and allow her feet to be picked up. I have discovered that she is very alert, bold, inquisitive, and loves being the "chosen" one when it is training time.
