Welcome to Dreams Come True Farm's 2016 Horse Show Results

This year Sjaantje, Sport, Crown created dreams and made them come true!

  Sjaantje had been on maternity leave in 2014 and 2015, giving birth in March 2015 to a Sape filly, Wendee, so I had not shown since 2013. I was very anxious to get back on the box, so really anticipated the start of the 2016 show season.  That said, we took Sjaantje to Ocala, FL, between Christmas and New Years, where once again both she and I trained with Suzy Stafford. During the 2 years of not showing, I transitioned from carts (2 wheels) to carriages (4 wheels), buying a ladies wicker phaeton and restoring an antique Studebaker phaeton.
    With my responsibilites at DCTF, I could not stay in FL for the winter, so I traveled between Carlisle, PA, and Ocala, FL, 7 times to train and show. What an incredible new experience: training and showing during the winter months of January - April. My passion is driven dressage, so the many opportunities for driven dressage was the impetus for my decision to winter in Ocala.
    With Suzy training in Europe this past summer we were basically on our own for the northern show circuit. Thomas and I tested Sjaantje's and our show stamina when we showed 3 consecutive weekends in June, sandwiching an ADS show between 2 breed shows. Then she had the month of July off.  Finally in October, Suzy was able to join us for our Friesian World Championships, where our show strategy was for me to drive the amateur classes and Suzy, the open classes. That strategy was a huge success with Sjaantje winning 9 World Championship Titles, and winning 3 show high point perpetual trophies: driven dressage, driving, and purebred.
