Generally we turn out in 2
groups--the older, more dominant horses together and the younger, more
timid ones together. Of course when we get a new horse, we turn it out
alone a few times and
then slowly [one horse at a time] introduce it to one of the
pasturemate
groups. Currently the 3 broodmares are pasture mates, as are the 3
barren
mares. The recently weaned filly is paired up with our pony. It is
always
a tribute to the majesty of the horse, when turned out, watching them
trot,
gallop, and play when they are in an exuberant mood. |
