    On Aug 8, 2009 we took Carlee to the Ohio Valley Friesian Horse Association's first Friesian Classic Horse Show, held in conjunction with the Ohio State Fair. She was shown in the 2 and under halter class, was the only yearling among seven 2 year olds, and won the class! Foaled April 3, 2008 @ 7:23 pm, this healthy, leggy, and elegant 2008 3e FHANA/FPS registered filly by Iron Spring Farm's Teade, now approved on offspring, and out of our ster mare, Wietske Janke V. has been a delight to have on our farm. Carlee has the looks and the movement that a modern, sport Friesian is expected to have and will have lots of mane, tail, and feathering, just like her dam, sire, and grandsire, Anton. At 17 months she is already 15.2hh, so is going to be tall.

  In 2007 we bred our ster mare, Wietske Janke V, back to Iron Spring Farm's Friesian stallion, Teade, who is now approved on offspring. That  healthy filly was Wietske's fifth foal, so she knew the routine and foaled quickly. My excitement was hard to contain, as I had been hoping for a filly this year.
    Carlee is registered with both FHANA [the Friesian Horse Association of North America] and the Dutch FPS [Friesch Paarden-Stamboek (Friesian studbook)], which is the world-wide authority on the Friesian horse and recognized as the European Mother Studbook of the Friesian Horse. Her dam, a very kind, friendly mare and excellent mother, Wietske Janke V [199925360] was sired by Ritse and is a "ster" Friesian mare.
    This filly is very strong, active, curious, bold, and extremely friendly. She has been regularly handled since day 1 and has been wearing a halter since birth, and led very nicely as a suckling. As a yearling she has been brought along using natural horsemanship techniques, so is very confident and desensitized. She is still very friendly and sweet with lots of manners, backing up with a wiggle of a finger. She has learned the Parelli 7 games, cross ties, clips, bathes, loads herself in a trailer, and often free roams around the barn when I am doing chores. She is going to be very tall for a Friesian and will be the modern sport horse in body type. She plays with exercise balls, traffic cones, barrels, platforms, sheets, umbrellas, bags of aluminum soda cans, milk jugs tied together, and tires.
