She was foaled March 30, 1991 in
Aroda, VA, and is a registered American Holsteiner! I never thought
I could afford a German warmblood, but I found her April 7, 2000 at the Thurmont,
MD Horse Auction. Other than being smaller than most of my horses--15.3h,
she was nicely built and a lovely mover, so I knew she would make a nice
broodmare. She is a calm well mannered mare, and I have had no problems
with her, but then I am not asking her to do anything other than to be a
horse! Her bonits are listed here.
After a few hours searching the
net, I located "Future,"
an affordable, 17.2h Holsteiner stallion [now 18h] and made arrangements
for her to be bred by artificial insemination. AI was a totally new
experience for me, requiring coordination and cooperation between the stallion
owner, the vet, Northwest Airlines, my boss, and of course Thomas and myself.
Did I mention the mare? Our first attempt was successful--the May 13, 2000,
ultrasound showed an embryo, so she conceived either April 28 or 29, 2000
when the AI was done.
She has a lovely head
